I'm Walking for Liz
If I'm sending you this, you know that I'm a fundraiser with the Alzheimer Society. But....I may not have shared my personal reasons for caring about the work that this wonderful organization does, every day.
My grandmother died with dementia and my mom used her experiences as a caregiver to help others and was a volunteer on our Helpline.
I personally benefitted from our counselling and education sessions when I walked beside my in-laws throughout their journey with dementia. We lost Dad at the beginning of the pandemic.
My partner's family is now figuring out their next steps after a recent diagnosis.
And most recently, I lost a cherished colleague just a few short months after a diagnosis of CJD, a rare form of dementia.
So this year, I'm walking for Liz. She was a bright bright spark in my work life and I miss her smile.
If you can make a donation today - no matter the amount - thanks so much.
Your gift connects families to a community of support including one-to-one counselling, support groups, education sessions and dementia-friendly programs.
