Our family is taking part in this year's IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's and would love your support!

Did you know, more than 20,300 Manitobans are diagnosed with dementia and 62 per cent are directly impacted by the disease?

Participating in this walk is something we decided to do to support my mom who currently lives with us and has been going through Alzheimer’s/Dementia for the last few years. Living with my mom everyday getting worse experiencing first hand what this horrible disease does to a loved one. Watching my dad as her primary caregiver struggle with worry and sadness because she doesn’t remember him, hardly eats and can say some hurtful things. The struggle with accepting that he will need to put her in a care home and just knowing things will never be the same and that she will likely go downhill once she’s in a home away from her family. Watching the kids struggle to understand why their grandma doesn’t remember or understand things. This disease not only affects the person who has it but the entire family and care givers going through it alongside them everyday. It is heartbreaking and we truly hope that one day there is a cure.
