In memory of my Dad
In 2020, my family began a journey we never expected — Alzheimer’s. From the moment my dad was diagnosed, everything changed.
My dad, Ed — known to many as Eddy or Eddie — was the kind of person who gave his whole heart to others. He spent his life helping people, through his church, his community, and thousands of hours volunteering. But more than anything, he was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa.
He shared 57 beautiful years with my mom, Sylvia — his true love. After she passed, he followed just 47 days later. As heartbreaking as that was, there’s comfort in knowing they’re together again.
Watching Alzheimer’s take him from us piece by piece was incredibly hard. I still catch myself wanting to tell him something, or wishing I could hear his voice one more time.
This year, I’m walking in his memory with my team, “Heels to Hearts for Eddie.” I’m so grateful to have my family and friends beside me.
I walk for him. For our memories. For every family going through this. And for hope — that one day, no one has to.
