While I do work at the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, I have lived experience as I had two grandparents who had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's/Dementia. My understanding of what that meant was far from being knowledgeable, and in hindsight wish I had connected with an Alzheimer's Society over a decade ago when my family first suspected my grandpa had dementia. Wish we had known about the supports my grandma could or should have accessed as these aren't diseases that no one should face alone or feel isolated with. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn and help support Manitoban families as ASM has so many wonderful staff, volunteers, and families that truly are everyday hero's!
