Welcome to My Personal Page

I'm participating in this year's IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's to support my husband Bill. Bill is into his fifth year with this horrible disease and this past winter it has progressed so much. Sometimes you would think he is doing really good but the next minute he has no idea where he is or what he’s doing. We’ve been married for 57 years but there has been times when he doesn’t know who I am. Also we’ve lived in our home for 50 of those years but so many times he wants to leave because he doesn’t believe this is his home. He has lost the ability to make a decision to bathe or change his clothes. Same with shaving or brushing his hair and his teeth. For a few months now I have not been able to leave him in the house alone afraid he will walk out the door. The other night he went for a walk on his own when I went downstairs to the laundry room for five minutes at the most. He disappeared so fast and we had no idea where he went. There were neighbours friends and family walking and driving around looking for him. He was found 45 minutes later a long way from our house. I now have an AirTag on him. Bill and I for two years now attend the Alzheimer’s Mind in Motion at the Wellness. Bill enjoys it so much. We also attend an Alzheimer’s support group once a month which has been a big help for me. Bill also attends a day group here in Transcona which has been great for him. Our family and friends are walking with us again this year hoping we can make a difference in fighting this horrible disease. Our team is called Rayner’s Rally if anyone would like to join us .
By making a donation, you are helping the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba continue to provide valuable programs and services for families affected by dementia, while funding research to help find a cure.
Currently, more than 20,300 Manitobans are diagnosed with dementia and 62 per cent are directly impacted by the disease.
Thank you again for your support.
