Looking back one year ago, this was my personal message:

My vibrant and beautiful mom was diagnosed with dementia about 2 years ago, and sadly, her well-being has declined rapidly. She lived with my sister for most of this time, but has recently had to move into a long term care facility as her needs and safety concerns were too great. My two sisters now take turns going daily to give her lunch and compassionate care that just isn't available in the chronically understaffed facility. As I live 2200kms away, all I can do is provide moral support, and join the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's to support families living with dementia in our community.

Sadly, it was a blessing when my mom lost her battle, (and you can see by the picture in the collage below that it truly was a battle) in September 2022, yet I still miss her every day. 

This year I walk in her honour and in appreciation of the caregivers, friends and family members who work so hard to improve the quality of life for those suffering with dementia.
